{"id":782,"date":"2026-02-27T17:00:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westcoastaftershock.com\/wca\/2026\/02\/california-supreme-court-wont-review-tory-lanez-case\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T17:00:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:00:10","slug":"california-supreme-court-wont-review-tory-lanez-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westcoastaftershock.com\/wca\/2026\/02\/california-supreme-court-wont-review-tory-lanez-case\/","title":{"rendered":"California Supreme Court Won\u2019t Review Tory Lanez\u2019 Case."},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/westcoastaftershock.com\/wca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/TL.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/westcoastaftershock.com\/wca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/TL.jpg 800w, https:\/\/rapindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/TL-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rapindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/TL-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rapindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/TL-267x150.jpg 267w, https:\/\/rapindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/TL-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The California Supreme Court rejected a defense petition seeking its review of the case of rapper Tory Lanez, who was convicted of shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a 2020 dispute in the Hollywood Hills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lanez, now 33, was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lanez (real name, Daystar Peterson) was sentenced in August 2023 to 10 years in state prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a 46-page ruling last November, a three-justice panel from California\u2019s 2nd District Court of Appeal rejected the defense\u2019s contention that there were errors in the rapper\u2019s trial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The justices noted that the testimony was \u201cmore than sufficient to support the jury\u2019s finding that Peterson personally inflicted great bodily injury on\u201d Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the trial, Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez shot her during a July 12, 2020, argument following a get-together at Kylie Jenner\u2019s home. She said that she had no doubt that Lanez fired the shots, and that he later offered her $1 million not to say anything.
