On April 4, the actress to took Instagram, offering a heartfelt tribute<\/a> to her late father. \u201cYesterday morning, my Dad, Sylvester \u201cCully\u201d Union Jr., passed away. No matter how much you think you know about dementia, nothing prepares you for the painfully slow disappearing of your loved one,\u201d she began the lengthy post. <\/p>\n

The actress noted that when dealing with a family member with Dementia, things start off slow. \u201cFirst it\u2019s repeating words or forgetting little things here or there,\u201d then \u201cBOOM, he can\u2019t swallow or walk.\u201d The actress continued: \u201cYou hold out hope for sustained eye contact or a smile; even a hand squeeze can make you feel like they could come back to you \u201cnormal\u201d at any second.\u201d <\/p>\n
