The dismembered and decapitated remains of seven men were found Tuesday on the Tlapa-Olinal\u00e1 highway, in Cual\u00e1c, Guerrero near the border with Puebla.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing armed men throw the remains from a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. yesterday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office conducted the investigation, and the remains were taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for identification. None have been identified yet.<\/p>\n

This region is hotly disputed by criminals, with at least three criminal organizations operating in the Mountain region of Guerrero: Los Tlacos, Los Ardillos, and Los Rojos.\u00a0 They exert significant influence, regularly attacking authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In February 2024,\u00a0Manuel Eugenio Arriaga Rosendo, councilman for Cual\u00e1c municipality, was found dead inside his home. Four months later,\u00a0gunmen shot up the house of the mayor of Cualac, Hazael Aburto Ortega.\u00a0<\/p>\n
