The Memphis rapper famously referenced Simmons as a longtime crush in his 2016 hit Down in the DM. Years later, that admiration turned into reality when the two began dating in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>During the interview, Newton asked whether Simmons ever felt the relationship might have worked better if it had remained a distant crush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that relationship, do you ever think that the crush should have just remained? The crush,\u201d Newton asked.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons quickly pushed back on the idea, explaining that she valued the time they shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, not at all. It\u2019s good, it\u2019s fine,\u201d Simmons said. \u201cIt didn\u2019t need to remain the crush. Simmons offered a confident answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat I\u2019d be a great wife,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>When Newton wondered whether the breakup suggested Yo Gotti might not have been ready for marriage, Simmons defended her former partner.
