According to the formal petition\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/03\/18\/rick-ross-cease-and-desist-to-remy-ma-for-movie\/#continued\">which was obtained by <em>TMZ<\/em><\/a>\u2014Ross\u2019 attorneys claim that the film\u2019s name is a rip-off of his likeness and music. The Maybach Music Group founder demands that the project be halted because it not only features the unauthorized use of his music, but also his trade name. <\/p>\n<p>The rapper believes that the title has caused confusion among his fans, who thought he was attached to the project. The movie title has since been removed from Remy\u2019s platform, The Remy Network. \u201cThe Remy Network is now working closely with its partners to strengthen review processes and ensure that situations like this do not occur moving forward,\u201d the rep added. <\/p>\n<p>The film, which has been renamed to <em>The C.O.<\/em>, centers on a police officer who steals a drug dealer\u2019s life story and turns it into a rap career. The story is eerily similar to Ross\u2019 backstory of going from a corrections officer to a big-time rapper. The project is expected to be released later this spring.
