Now, his lawyer, Beau Brindley, is saying the singer was unfairly held without cause. “Mr. Kelly has been released from special housing. No impropriety whatsoever was found with respect to his possession of the telephone number of a former prison official,” Brindley told Los Angeles Magazine.

“He was kept in special housing for approximately two weeks without legitimate cause before the facility was compelled to release him.” The former warden, whose name hasn’t been revealed, gave Kelly his cell number prior to his retirement in case he needed to seek advice about an ongoing mentor program. Not long after, Kelly’s cellmate was busted with a phone.
