According to Black Coffee, the decision stemmed from his creative standards rather than fear or hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think when the time comes,\u201d Black Coffee said while reflecting on the situation. He recalled performing a DJ set in Los Angeles for Beyonc\u00e9 and her husband, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z. \u201cSo after that, I did the gig in L.A. for them. Can\u2019t get over the party,\u2019\u201d Black Coffee recalled. The message left him unsure how to respond beyond a simple thank-you.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks later, Jay-Z reached out again with a direct question about music for Beyonc\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe says the same thing, but he says: \u2018Do you have music for Bey?\u2019\u201d Black Coffee said. \u201cThen I\u2019m like, \u2018Okay, I\u2019m done with you.\u2019 So I don\u2019t respond to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dj-black-coffee-recalls-turning-down-a-feature-from-beyonce\">DJ Black Coffee Recalls Turning Down A Feature From Beyonc\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the comment, Black Coffee clarified that he respects the artists involved and prefers a different style of collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso what would make me ready for that, just like Drake get on the plane, let\u2019s be in the same room,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s how I want to work now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also described how many major artists request full song demos rather than unfinished instrumentals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of these artists will be like send stuff,\u201d he explained. \u201cWhen they say send, they don\u2019t mean a beat. He cited the example of songs prepared for Rihanna to demonstrate how a track might sound once recorded.<\/p>\n<p>Queen Bey is rumored to be working on an \u201cAmericana\u201d album for the latest installment in her Carter series.
