Matthew Knowles was visibly offended by the idea that both he and Tina Knowles helped get their children to where they are today.<\/p>\n

The father of Beyonc\u00e9 and Solange Knowles walked out of an interview early after his ex-wife was brought up. The interviewer, PIX 11 anchor Kendis Gibson, mentioned Tina\u2019s name in relation to the work both she and Mathew did with Destiny\u2019s Child.<\/p>\n

When Gibson referenced the work that both Tina and Mathew\u2013who were married for more than 30 years\u2013put into the girl group, Knowles interjected, \u201cWhat work did she put in?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendis, clearly caught off guard by Matthew\u2019s response, answered by mentioning how Tina used to style the group\u2019s hair and design their costumes in the early days of their career.<\/p>\n

Once those aspects were mentioned, Mathew agreed that Kendis was \u201cabsolutely right\u201d about Tina\u2019s involvement in the group\u2013which consists of Beyonc\u00e9, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams\u2013via their \u201cstyling\u201d and \u201cimaging.\u201d However, quickly after agreeing, Matthew got up from his chair and said, \u201cWe\u2019ll stop now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendis laughed at the uncomfortable situation before asking, \u201cSorry, did I say something wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNo, no, no,\u201d Mathew insisted, shaking the reporter\u2019s hand. \u201cWe\u2019re good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

After the interview aired, Mathew told Page Six<\/a><\/em> that there were multiple questions about Tina \u201cwhen the interview was supposed to be about\u201d an upcoming Destiny\u2019s Child tribute concert. He also claimed Gibson arrived to the sit-down 15 minutes late, saying, \u201cHow it starts is how it ends. It started on a bad note, and obviously ended on a bad note for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI politely ended the interview, shook his hand, and took a photograph,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s certainly not surprising that Matthew\u2019s previous marriage seems to be a sore spot. Over the years, Tina has been open about her rollercoaster relationship with the record exec, which ended in 2009 after she discovered he\u2019d fathered a child outside of their marriage. While they briefly rekindled their romance after that, they broke up for good in 2011.<\/p>\n

Tina details their on-again, off-again romance in her 2025 memoir Matriarch<\/em>, writing about how she and Mathew \u201cwere so good half the time\u201d that it made it difficult to leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would cheat or act up, and I would say I\u2019d had enough,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe\u2019d beg for forgiveness, crying and promising to get better.\u201d And though he would get better, \u201cthe same thing would happen again. But this is what married people did, I told myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

She mentioned that Mathew was a \u201cwonderful father,\u201d but also noted that \u201cHe had issues that did not make for a good husband then.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now that more than a decade has passed since the end of their relationship, Tina says there are no hard feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are on good terms because we did a good job,\u201d Tina told Gayle King on an April 2025 episode of her SIRIUSXM Gayle King in the House podcast<\/a>. \u201cWe did some really good stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

She continued, \u201cWhat I\u2019ve said over and over is that yes, I had some really tumultuous, terrible times with Matthew, but I never questioned whether he loved me or my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
