Even though some fans don\u2019t believe Ray J\u2019s health is as bad as he claims, his mother insists the reality star is genuinely struggling. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, March 3, the singer\u2019s mom, Sonja Norwood, went live on Facebook to address her followers. She went on to add a caption to the 38-minute video, which she titled, \u201cAn update on Ray Js health.\u201d<\/p>\n

About three minutes into the broadcast, the talent manager, producer, and entrepreneur said that she wanted to address rumors about Ray J\u2019s health in an effort to \u201cclear up things.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just gotten out of hand when someone thinks that my son is faking his health<\/a>, or [that] it\u2019s a hoax, or [that] he\u2019s just playing around [and] he\u2019s not really serious about it,\u201d Norwood said in the video. \u201c[But] I\u2019d just like to get something clear: I\u2019m the type of mother that there\u2019s not much I don\u2019t know about my children\u2026 so for all of you that have been genuinely concerned about him\u2026 I want to say I thank you very much for that because it takes multiple prayers and thoughts for things to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She went on to say that in January, Ray was hospitalized after what doctors initially believed was pneumonia. Upon further testing, he was kept under medical care, where he later suffered \u201csevere chest pain.\u201d Doctors ultimately performed an angiogram and diagnosed the star with \u201ccardiomyopathy,\u201d a form of heart disease that makes \u201cthe heart have a harder time pumping blood to the rest of the body, which can lead to symptoms of heart failure,\u201d per Mayo Clinic<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Norwood also claims that \u201cblood flow was 15-20% to his heart,\u201d calling the health scar \u201clife-threatening.\u201d Though she acknowledged that her son \u201ccan portray many characters,\u201d she did stress that he has been prescribed several medications to manage his illness.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been told to him that if he does not take his medication, if he does not take medical advice, and if he doesn\u2019t rest and stay stress-free\u2026 then he has a life-threatening situation,\u201d she continued, insisting Ray must now abide by his \u201cnew limitations\u201d in both his career and personal life. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s where we are,\u201d she said. \u201c[But] my biggest worry is if he\u2019s taking his medication exactly like he\u2019s supposed to be because he has complained that those medications make him tired and make him eat more than he ever has before.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She finished the livestream by once again stating that Ray J is not pretending to be sick or staging a \u201choax.\u201d Instead, he is simply \u201ctrying to adjust to a condition that he has.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

This correction from Norwood comes after photographer Tommy Nard II\u00a0<\/a>claimed that Ray appearing onstage with blood running from his eyes was a fake stunt. Last month, Nard posted footage that appears to show Ray J lying on his back onstage and applying \u201cfake blood\u201d to his eyes before he continued to perform. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe loves the camera. He loves the attention. Anybody that knows him, it\u2019s all theatrical,\u201d Nard said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As BOSSIP<\/a><\/em> previously reported, the singer slammed those claims, telling fans to \u201cForget what you\u2019re hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n
