Everybody\u2019s buzzing over the long-awaited new Scary Movie<\/em> trailer which clowns everything from Sinners<\/a><\/em> to Get Out<\/em> while reuniting fans of the once-hilarious parody franchise with Shorty (Marlon Wayans<\/a>), Ray (Shawn Wayans), Brenda (Regina Hall<\/a>), Cindy (Anna Faris), and Hanson\u2019s strong little hand because, of course.<\/p>\n

The spoof-stuffed trailer picks up where the Wayans left off in Scary Movie 2<\/em> before the franchise swerved into the Wayans-less abyss with Scary Movie 3-5<\/em> which, if you recall, were, uh\u2026 yea.<\/p>\n

In fact, Marlon revealed that he hates those films after being fired by the Weinsteins who (infamously) veered the franchise in a less successful direction.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The Weinstein\u2019s are] not the best or the kindest people to be in business with,\u201d he said in an interview with Variety<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re very much an evil regime, I guess. They do what they want to do how they do it \u2014 and it can be rude and quite disrespectful. We couldn\u2019t come to terms on the deal. It\u2019s like, \u2018If you don\u2019t want to pay for the jokes, have somebody else do it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe read on Christmas Eve that they were going with someone else for [Scary Movie 3<\/em>],\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe probably could have sued or whatever, but part of us was like, \u2018All you can do is allow us to create something new.\u2019 I could write a book on that whole thing, honestly. They definitely still owe us money, lots of money. What they did was really bad business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to 2026 where the franchise is back with the Wayans family who bring their signature shenanigans to Horror reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every \u201cfinal chapter\u201d that absolutely isn\u2019t final while \u201ccanceling the Cancel Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Directed by Michael Tiddes and produced by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez, Scary Movie<\/em> is primed to be a massive success nearly 30 years after the franchise\u2019s debut in 2000.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we\u2019re trying to do is bring back laughter,\u201d said Marlon in an exclusive interview with EW<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThis is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. And I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re gonna do what we always do. We\u2019re gonna make fun of everybody because we\u2019re equal opportunity offenders,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a recipe, we have a formula that you can\u2019t mimic or copy. You could try, but it\u2019s very specific. It\u2019s how we grew up, and it\u2019s how we see the world. It\u2019s the household we were raised in with the sense of humor that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe like to be fearless,\u201d he continues. \u201cYet still do things with kid gloves to let people laugh at themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
