This documentary tells the story of Cougnut, one of the first true rap icons to emerge from San Francisco. Rising in the late 1980s as a member of I.M.P., Cougnut helped shape the raw, unfiltered sound of Bay Area hip hop before it reached the mainstream.
Known for his unmistakable raspy voice and vivid, street-driven storytelling, Cougnut’s lyrics painted pictures of life, struggle, and survival in a way few others could. Just as his solo career was on the verge of breaking through, tragedy struck and his life was cut short right after signing to Death Row Records.
