Steph Curry will miss more time as he copes with his knee injury.
According to ESPN, will sit out at least five more games and will be reevaluated in the next 10 days. The Warriors are set to take on the Los Angeles Clippers, the Houston Rockets, the Oklahoma Thunder, the Utah Jazz, and the Chicago Bulls.
The Warriors are 4-6 since he’s been sidelined.
Curry is suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome, also known as “runner’s knee.” The injury consists of swelling and pain around the kneecap.
”This is a weird one,” Curry said to ESPN’s Malika Andrews during an in-game interview Saturday. “It’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal.”
“It’s going to be a little longer,” Curry continued. “Right now, with this one, it’s about each day. Can you stack good days? I’ve done that. Hopefully they can unleash me on the court soon and hopefully get back sooner than later.”
THE WARRIORS ARE HOLDING ON TO EIGHTH PLACE IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE
Currently, the Warriors are 31-29, in the eighth seed, which would qualify them for the play-in tournament. Curry is looking forward to finishing strong as the Warriors make a final playoff push.
“Trying to stay in shape, strengthen everything else around the body, knowing at this stage, once you get back, it’s a full sprint to the playoffs,” Curry said. “Once I get back on the court, it’s a little bit of a pain tolerance thing. But it’s just something you don’t want lingering because it can get worse.”
Through 39 games, the 37-year-old superstar is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. He’s shooting 93.1% free-throw percentage, 39.1% from beyond the arc, and made his 12th All-Star selection.
Along with Curry, Jimmy Butler is out for the season with an ACL injury. Also, the newly acquired Kristaps Porzingis will miss his fourth straight game with a general illness.
The Warriors will host the L.A. Clippers at the Chase Center on Monday, March 2, at 10 p.m. ET.
