The Austin Police Department released body camera footage of a shooting involving Officer Adam Reinhart. The incident began as a curfew check on a stolen car at Zilker Park. The suspect, 30-year-old Brandon Thompson, and his girlfriend Kay Smith emerged from the woods. After being told they were detained, Thompson shot Smith in the head before turning the gun on Officer Reinhart, striking him in the abdomen. Smith was later pronounced brain dead. Thompson faces charges including attempted capital murder of a police officer.
